TESTIMONIALS

Families often write us so that others like yourself will know how they felt about the services provided by our team.  Please take time to read what others have to say.

To the Staff of Families First,

We greatly appreciate everything the staff did for Owen and for our family. We were overwhelmed by the little things that you did, from the flag to the Disney quotes, that ended up meaning the most to us. I’m sure it’s never easy for a family to say good-bye to a loved one, especially a child as beautiful as Owen. Thank you for helping us say good-bye.

Matthew, Meghan & Derek McLeod

To the 2 gentlemen who helped with my dead battery, I’m forever grateful!! You went beyond & above your duty at the funeral home. You should be commended for your kindness.

Thanks,

Yumi Catindy

To the Staff at Families First,

Thank you so much for giving our loved one, Michael Fenech, a beautiful send off. For taking good care of him and making him look like the husband/dad we all so dearly loved.

A special thank you to Tara, for helping us put the final touches together to give him the beautiful send off he so deserved.

To John, for spending two days with us, taking care of us and our every need. And for constantly checking to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. For your patience during the difficult time.

To Mark James who drove Mike to his final destination and what a beautiful ride that was. Thank you Mark for staying behind at the cemetery and making sure he was taken care of.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,

Helen, Adelaine, Michael, Laura, Rachel Fenech and Dorothy and Brian Watson

Hi Kate,

After a week or so of reflecting and catching my breath, I just wanted to say thank you to you and your team for everything you did for the Knowler clan during my dad’s funeral. From the moment I walked into the conference room, your smile and your manner reassured me that we had made the right decision in whom we picked to lay dad to rest. Thanks again Kate. You helped bring our family through the darkest days we’ve ever had and we won’t forget it.

Brian Parent, Randi Gallant and Staff

The death of a loved one is one of the most difficult experiences that most of us will have to face.

Thank Brian Parent and the entire staff at Families First for your very kind and compassionate care during our time of sorrow.  Every detail was handled with perfection.

A special thank you goes out to Randi Gallant who found a way to include our special needs family member in the service.  It was an added personal touch that was much appreciated.

There was no better of a man than Isidoro Faraci.  Just as there is no better of a funeral home than Families First.

The Faraci Family

“I could never thank you for what all your staff has done for us.”

Salina McIntyre & Blair Family

All the wonderful staff,

We just wanted to thank you for your incredible compassion and care at such a difficult time.  Your team went above and beyond to not only ensure Dad’s (Wayne) wishes were carried out but that as a family we were on this journey together.  Your thoughtfulness and consideration cannot be taught.  This is who you are.  Dad would have been proud.  He was honoured as the Dad, the rock and the hero he was.

With unending thanks,

The entire Fields Family

Brian,

I just wanted to convey to you how happy we were with everything Families First has done for our family.

My father Joseph Murtagh passed away this past Sunday and was cared for at your Lauzon location.

Tara was fantastic and made such a difficult time a little bit easier. We appreciate everything she did to help plan and organize my father's service.

Peter was also wonderful and showed us great compassion in our time of loss on the day of his showing and finally, at his funeral mass and burial.

The fact that Peter also knew our family just made it seem all the more appropriate that he'd be helping us through.

All in all, your operation is first rate.

We will gladly share that fact with family and friends.

Thank you again.

John Murtagh

We are writing to thank you for your assistance in the planning and fulfillment of the funeral arrangements for our mother, Vivian Robinet, held on March 25th. The attentiveness and professionalism of your staff was most appreciated throughout the preparation of her funeral wishes. The sensitivity of your efficient employees in helping to display pictures and special displays made this final tribute a most memorable experience. We thank you for considering all of the components from the initial conversations and plans, the graphic artwork, and the church arrangements to the delivery of plants and personal items on the last day. Please convey our appreciation to your owners and all the employees involved who were an integral part of our honouring Vivian.

Dear Brian,

Families First has been a remarkable place of solace in our time of grief.  In the past two years you have given us amazing support during our sorrow over the death of our daughter Lori Brokalakis in July of 2015 and of my wife Connie and mother of our remaining children: Kimberly Spirou, Beth Bridgeman and Marc Raper.  Connie went to her eternal reward on March 11 of this year.  We also experienced the death of our infant son, Paul Joseph, who died on August 9, 1969, before you established your remarkable funeral business.

We met with Colin McIntyre who not only guided us through the process of ensuring that all of the preliminaries such as writing the obituary to meet a stringent deadline for publication and deciding on sundry other arrangements necessary for both the in-house funeral preparation and visitation as well as church services, but also for assuring us that necessary contacts with government agencies would be take care of including meeting the requirements of OAS, CPP, death certificates and much more.  This process relieved us of all those matters which would have otherwise compounded our stress.  His knowledge and expertise freed us to concentrate on sharing our loss with so many wonderfully supportive relatives and friends.

What we found so comforting is that all of your staff who were involved with our daughter’s and my wife’s funerals were so attentive to our needs and went out of their way to assist us in ways too numberous to mention.  You are truly blessed with such a professional and caring staff.

We were really impressed with the work done by your staff who created the video with our chosen background music, prepared the photo boards, positioned the floral arrangements and set up the room in a manner that enabled people to enjoy the other displays while waiting in line to express their condolences.  Creating the wallet cards with the deceased person’s photo and other details is a remarkable achievement.  I just can’t stress enough how I admire your very innovative and creative people.  Although your morticians and those who prepare the body of a deceased person might not often receive the praises due to them from families, our family was impressed with the way Connie was prepared for the funeral visitation.

Although every one of your staff we had contact with was superb, I wish to commend certain individuals whose help was indispensable, some whose names I have forgotten but you know, and they know, who they are: the limousine drivers, Denis and Mel who were so prompt, Sherri, Jennifer, Kim, my good friend John Lojewski, whom I taught at Massey, Anne who really helped me with the hard-to-reach Social Security people and others who were always responsive to my requests and who went out of their way to accommodate our wishes.  Above all, Colin is – without a doubt – a truly remarkable individual whose patience, kindness and expertise will never be forgotten.

Brian, you have built a wonderful organization and you are to be commended for your remarkable achievemetns.

Sincerely,

Donald Raper

Hi Marco,

This is Andy Berthiaume, Mary-Lynn and Joe's son.

I just wanted to thank you for the incredible support you were for my Mom's funeral. I was consistently amazed at your listening skills, patience, organization, leadership and huge heart. I can't tell you how much your help meant to us. You went above and beyond to ensure that we knew the process and you were always there for us. I typically do not write thank you e-mails but I just needed to reach out and let you know how I felt.

Thanks again Marco and keep it up!

Andy Berthiaume

Jennie loved your signing and would have been so pleased, Thanks so much!

You and Peter are amazing! Thank you!

To the team at families first.
No one ever looks forward to the day they plan a funeral for their loved one. When our family first walked through the doors at Families First we were tired, pain stricken and grieving the loss of our husband/father. No one could imagine at that time, the warmth, love, and comfort we were about to receive in the days to come. From the initial planning process with Colin to finalizing details of Paul’s Life Celebration slideshow with Jessica we always felt our wishes were accommodated and respected. We were able to place full trust and confidence in the Families First Team. We would also like to give a special mention to Bill, who brought so much to the day of the funeral service, with his final words and prayer still lingering in the hearts of our friends and family. This experience was nothing shy of astounding. The facility was breathtaking and the staff showcased a beautiful attention to detail, surpassing any expectations. It goes without saying, that our family will forever be a strong advocate for the unparalleled service and experience Families First provided. A million thank you’s would never be enough.
But sincere thanks on behalf of Lou-Anne, Chantelle, Carolyn and Christopher and Alyssa Mayville.

Dear Brian,
I need to let you know what a comfort Randi was this past week to my sister and the rest of our family. My nephew John Newman passed so unexpectedly...the shock is still with us. My sister, his mom Michelle is a strong woman....a woman who knows what she wants and in her son's funeral she was unbendable, well within her rights. Randi stood beside her, listened to her, let her do things exactly as she wanted then took my sister's plans and exploded them into the most beautiful tribute to John, more beautiful than we could have imagined. She was totally in tune with my sister. I want you to know that I appreciate the way we were all treated and I want to thank your entire team for taking such good care of John and us.
May you all always be blessed,
Stacey Owen-Carr

To Peter Lojewski, Nicole Renaud and staff members Russ, Tim, and Taylor from Families First Funeral Home.  We will never be able to adequately thank you for your professionalism and compassion, kindness and availability to our family.  Our requests were addressed immediately and your comforting presence assisted us through this difficult time.

Sincerely, Karen & Pat, Coyle, Denise & Pat Brinkman, Helen & Tony Caba, Andrea & Jay Prieur, Gerard & Mary Beth Laing & Families

Dear Peter,

Thank you so much for your help during the evening visitation for Mom and during the funeral on Thursday.

Randi,
I want to thank you from the depths of my soul for the way you took care of my sister this past week. You must be an immensely special soul because you were able to take her thoughts and turn them into the most amazingly beautiful send off for our Johnny. You were kind and worked so well with her.
From the bottom of my broken heart, I will always be grateful for you.
Stacey Owen-Carr

Dear Brian Parent,

The family and friends of Andrea Humphrey want to thank the staff of Families First on the amazing job they and John Vettese did to help us plan, select options, and carry out the beautiful funeral visitation and service Jan. 6-7, 2017.

The professional staff you employ was tremendous in showing great sensitivity to the loss of our daughter, Andrea, and to the choices that had to be made despite our grief.  The graphics team was very impressive with their ability to generate beautiful work in such a short period of time.  The flower and pictorial arrangements were awesome.  We were particularly impressed with the work and dedication shown by the funeral director, John Vettese, who, despite being a personal friend of our daughter, overcame his own grief and was truly professional with the duties at hand.  I want to make it clear that he is an extraordinary individual who deserves our praise and admiration for his professionalism.  I would recommend him for extraordinary service accolades above and beyond the call of duty.  He continues to exceed all expectation and his dedication and care to detail helps make Families First an exceptional funeral home.

Once again I have nothing but praise for the work of Families First and to the dedicated staff from the beautiful appearance of Andrea to hotel options for out of town guests to the vast array of paperwork that was simplified by the director including ongoing insurance details.  I would not hesitate to recommend you to family and friends in need of your services.

Warm regards,

Frank Karpala, PhD

Marco,
I never had the chance to really thank you for making our funeral arrangements go so smoothly. We lost our dad so suddenly and unexpectedly. We all knew it was going to happen but not that day.Its amazing the way things seem to happen.Just how everything just falls into place. Somehow our dad knew we were all there so he was prepared for his journey....funeral preparations were not even in my mind when I tracked down from Welland to visit him.Honestly I didn't know what to expect.
Marco.....Thank You for making our life those few days so comforting. We couldn't have done it without your help. We are very great full the way "Families First" took care of our family.

God Bless

Dear Marco & Staff of Families First,

Thank you to each and every one of you for your support, care and understanding during such a difficult time. You are truly a very special group of people that make such a difference in other’s lives during the most trying of times. Your level of service, care and professionalism and attention to detail is what sets Families First apart from all others. Your ability to take care of everything from the smallest of details to the largest removes all the additional stress and worries that we would normally be burdened with. My girlfriend Cassie, who you met, has attended two other funerals since November 15th and had expressed to me that there is no comparison at all to the service and presentation of my mother’s person, life story and memories of her. Your ability to display and capture this is truly special and allows us to feel that a great tribute was paid in honor of our mother, and we are truly grateful for that.

James H. & Cassie Hoffender

Dear Marco & all the Staff…

Words seem inadequate to thank you for the kindness and understanding you all have shown during this time of need.

It is people like you who make this world a better place to live in.

Just this week I thought of you it was the 16 th anniversary of my dad JAN MOTA 'S death. You played such and important role in that day by offering comfort with touching our hearts and easing our pain with your spirtually soulful music and singing.  My Dad loved music so so much and it was an honor to have you there .

Sincerely Helena and Henry Pereira!

Thank you Jules. That was so inspiring at such a sad time. Your a very talented man.
James Levy.

Good Day! Jules,

My Wife & I wish to extend our heartfelt appreciation and \"Thanks\" for the warm and comforting vocal presentation you

provided at the funeral services at the Sacred Heart Church, for my Mom. You professionally placed the 5 memorable hymns

that we selected on behalf of my Mom into the celebration of the Mass and prayers.

We apologize for not acknowledging your contribution during my shared comments and most importantly not \'Thanking you\" personally after the service. We

did look around at some point and didn\'t see you amidst all the post-service activities and social interactions.

Just know that the way in which you sang the songs, filled with sincere tones of shared sympathy and spiritual hope help us both....and probably put a \'smile\' on

my Mom\'s face....somewhere in heaven...

Take care. God Bless you and your family,

Thoughtfully,

Richard Carroll & Ana

On behalf of the entire Lira family, I would like to thank the Families First group of funeral directors and caregivers for their extreme kindness and compassion during the difficult days following the death of my husband, John (Gianni) Lira.

Denis Duguay was so professional and he could not have been more helpful throughout the preparation, the visitation days before and during the funeral itself. He is a wonderful person with a big heart.

Peter Marchini, who drove the limo for the family and assisted the day of the funeral, was willing to help with whatever we required and his warmth and consideration was appreciated. The individuals who took care of the prayer cards and personalized thank you cards were very creative and extremely accommodating. Unfortunately, I cannot mention the names of all of your personnel, but each and every one of them gave our entire family comfort and support.

I will never forget the kindness shown to our family and the service provided at such a difficult time in our lives.

Simone, Craig, Marc, Stacey and the extended Lira Family

Brian, Mary-Lynn & The Families First Team,

Thank you for all you’ve done, your thoughtful service and the lovely Christmas ornament in memory of Jeanne. How did you know I was decorating my tree when you delivered it? Warm Wishes for a Merry Christmas.

Sincerely,

Henriette & family

To the Wonderful Family at Families First,

Peter, Basia & Families First,

From the first time I walked through the door of the Amherstburg location and met with the staff, I knew I would find comfort, advice and care.

We can’t thank you enough for your service & compassion during this difficult time.

Zena Murray, Melissa & Jake Douglas & families

Dear Denis,

Your help in organizing our Mother’s (Claire Marie Comartin) funeral arrangements on Thanksgiving weekend was most appreciated. The gift card is a token of our appreciation. Enjoy!

Sincerely,

Robert Comartin, Paulette & Gary Renaud

Dear Brian and your amazing team,

I just wanted to Thank-You and your team once again, I was absolutely amazed the other day when I answered the door bell to find one of your staff standing there to present to me a Christmas ornament in memory of my “Dad” who passed away in June 2016, I was so deeply touched at the beauty of the ornament, I immediately thought that I need to share this with my brothers and sisters, I called to see (and was praying that I could) order three more ornaments that I could give to my brothers and sisters. Your staff ordered me 3 more and they were ready the following day. I cannot Thank-you enough, as you know, losing a loved one is very devastating, and given the task to plan and finalize the funeral arrangements, to which, like most people have no “clue” on where to begin, your team made that experience easy for me, and I left Families First knowing my Dad would be proud of the plan,  and service your team so carefully, and compassionately walked me through. I know my Dad was smiling, there are no words to describe how truly great Families First is, I know when it is my time, and my family are well aware that I would not want to be anywhere else but Families First, I know I will be taken well cared of, but more importantly my family will be guided gently and compassionately thru the process, I hope you know how truly great,  you and your team are,

Thank-you again

Brian, Shelley Farrand, daughter of Thomas Windibank

Dear Brian and Staff:

The words "thank you" will never be enough for the extraordinary service you and your team provided over this past week. The care, compassion and attention to detail was so well done by everyone we encountered. Your staff, who I have had the pleasure working with for many years, also expressed their own sympathy at the loss of our mother to me personally which only enhanced the personal touch your team provides. We were very pleased with everything and appreciate all your efforts in making this very difficult time one that we will remember fondly.

Thank you again from it all.

Jeff Gendron and Family

Dear Friends,

Dear Jessica,

Words alone cannot express my gratitude to you in guiding us through a most difficult time in our lives. You went above and beyond any of my expectations and I could not have been happier. I’m sure mom was very proud of both of us and the beautiful funeral she had.

You are truly a blessing and are meant to do the job you do. I hope Families First realizes how truly lucky they are to have you on board.

Tina (Jamrog) Paquin & family

Dear Brian and Staff,

Please accept my most sincere appreciation for your exceptional service and care of my family and husband Jason.  Your generosity, professionalism and above all, kindness of your entire team will never be forgotten.

Words cannot fully express my appreciation.

In peace and sincerity,

Danielle Breault Stuebing, Connor and Meredith

I’d like to take a moment to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to everyone at Families First and more specifically to Jessica, Dennis and Marco for the way my wife “Louise J. Huot” funeral services were conducted and the way everything was presented as per my wishes.

Many thanks also go out to Simonne for the beautiful job she did in the representation of Louise’s life story in the DVD she created.

Once again, I was very, very satisfied with the professionalism in which the services were conducted and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Families First Funeral Home to others.

Renald Hout

Thank you for the service and help you have given to me in this time of sorrow in my husband’s Gerhard Buchner death.

Sincerely, Rosemarie Buchner and family

Please accept our sincere appreciation with the funeral of our Mother, Your help was very Professional and appreciated by the family.
LARRY & MARGARET BERGERON

To the wonderful wonderful staff at Families First,
I understand Ron Huot has already given a thank you card to express our gratitude for everything you have done for my mother's passing but I just wanted to send my personal thanks.
Simply put, you have done such an incredible job at making things easy for our family during this difficult time for us. There was never a No to any of our requests, always a Yes whole-heartedly and I can not thank you enough.
Please know that I have already begun telling the WORLD how amazing you all are and I wish nothing but the best for all of you.
Take good care.
Paul Huot

Hi Nina,
Thank you so much for the beautiful remembrance cards of my grandfather.  They were beautiful and brought tears to my eyes when I received them.
My family loved them as well and were very happy.  They were a nice touch to have at his one month mass yesterday evening.
I can't thank you enough for creating these for me and sending them so quickly!  The customer service I received from you and your staff was amazing.  THANK YOU!
I was wondering if it were possible to place another order, this time with my grandmother's photo.  My family really loved the idea of the wallet card and thought it would be nice to have my grandmother's done in the same way.
Please let me know if you can do this as well.  I would be ordering the same amount, 25 pieces.
Thanks so much again!
Hope to hear from you soon,
Maria

I wanted to take a moment or two to thank each and every person on our team who assisted our family throughout the past few days as we said goodbye to my grandma.
From the moment you found out she wasn't doing well you encouraged me to be there with my family in her last days. When we got the call she had died once again you were there with a quick hug and to pick up any pieces to any tasks I may have left undone. Many of you gave sage advice to be a granddaughter and be in the moment and I was able to do just that so THANK YOU!
We sometimes hear  about how big our team is or how many team members families sometimes meet , and my family was no different to me this was not a negative but a HUGE positive.  I am so thankful to each of you that put your own special mark on my grandmas care. From the caring transfer from LRS (Reg & Jason) so professional, but more than that - caring  - and both men were thoughtful and gave my grandma her second last car ride with care and compassion. My grandparents had pre-arrandged their funerals way back in '98 with Brian and though the basics were covered times had changed a bit and decisions had to be made. We were "that" family who needed a notice in Wednesday's paper and we didn't decide that until 4pm on Tuesday. Jessica was quick pull out what we had, read it throughly made some adjustments and even sent a screen shot so we could read it from the nursing home , Nicki was ready for the late photo edit and made sure what was printed was perfect. John made sure the text and relationships all made sense and the notice ran perfectly !
My grandma believed in looking your best and always had a made up face, even towards the end when we had to take away the eyeliner she may have found a Crayola marker as a substitute to make sure she had her face on , many thanks to Sherri, Taylor, Bill, Kirsten and anyone else who fussed over her - my family was floored with how good she looked, we heard comments throughout the entire visitation about - wow that was Joan - spending time with her physical body was so important as her last days in the nursing home were strained and she didn't look like  our mom/grandma which scared our family as to what would happen after her death - so many tears were shed over how good she looked and I thank you deeply for giving us our grandma back for a few more days.
I decided to take your advice and did not sit in with my family as they finalized the arrangements - Jessica took them under her wing and offered suggestions that made sense and finalized all of the loose details. We needed order and organization with a family as large as our and Jessica made sure each detail was planned and connected all the dots!
The funeral arrangements set off a chain reaction of tasks and events that must occur within a very short window of time and Ann, Liz and Laura made sure each step was taken and each task was completed seamlessly. Our grounds are always beautiful but I got so many compliments how truly beautiful and tranquil are grounds are thank you to Liam, Stephen and Josh for always taking extra time and care to make our facilities perfect.
So then there was that time when graphics blew my mind.... WOWZA! I really believe our tributes get better each and every day - and with our families photos (which were not the best) they created works of art. Courtney picked out purple before she had even spoken to Jessica everything flowed so beautifully , Haley had even engraved the back of the book with my grandma's own signature and message and surprised us all. We see cap panels everyday but for many members of my family it was the first time and they were overwhelmed - Video ..... video.... video.... spectaculr - yes we had more photos then we should have had but Simonne took our most treasured photos and told the story of Joan.  She selected the most perfect music that I loved so much -  You truly put your heart into every video you create and it shows through every transition even the placement of the video clip and the beautiful music!
The visiting was perfect and Cathy, Tim and Mel were "on-guard" in the lobby and ready and willing to do anything we needed -
Thank you for the beautiful dinner from the team, it was a nice break and once again my family was thankful they could rest their feet, feed their bellies as we McQuires like to do and just sit and reflect on the afternoon.
We wanted private time to close her casket and decided on the night before - Marco asked if it would be appropriate to toast Gma as we closed the casket and brought in a white wine toast (which was her favourite) he shared a beautiful poem and message with my family which were not expecting.
The funeral was truly fit for our queen Joan.  Russ, Gerry and John E. were ready and waiting for my family as we came in, the heat was harsh and even when we asked them to come in they didn't, making sure all our guests were cared for. Rev. Stan was very respectful and encouraging of my family's seven eulogies and his words brought comfort and reflection to our family. Sometimes we forget the impact of the music Jules can provide during the funeral service but that time to digest what we had heard,  and more importantly be in the moment of "why we are here" was awesome.
McQuire's know how to eat! My grandma always said strength goes in at the mouth and she would have been pleased at the beautiful meal that was prepared by Moe, Shannon, Sylvine and served by Sylvine, Elliott and special guest star Brianna. To share a meal and have  glass of wine or beer it reminded my family of many many times we got together and did just that ate lots, had a couple drinks and most importantly share some laughs and our reception at Families First was no different.
I know there maybe people I have missed in this thank you- I'm sure there are others who helped my family that I was not aware - but please know I am thankful to you  for your efforts to give my gma the send off she deserved.

I must thank Brian and Mary-Lynn for their involvement throughout the day of the service and the days prior to but mostly I thank you for empowering each member of our team to provide the outstanding service they do. I am always so proud to be apart of our team and over these past few days that pride has only grown beyond measure.
Sincerely and thankfully,
Jen and the entire McQuire family.

Families First Staff:

I can’t thank you enough for the compassion and love you put into every detail of Shirley’s funeral. It was above and beyond my expectations! I also want to thank your experienced staff for helping me with all the detailed paperwork! You have made the hardest time of my life a little easier by being so kind!

Forever Grateful,

Roger Marion

All staff were excellent, everyone treated us with respect, the tribute was amazing – how it was all set up. Ours was a little unique as cost was also a factor but we were never made to feel less than. I thank everyone for their time commitment to our family. I would highly recommend. Thank you for caring.

Donna Temporal

How does one say Thank You to the people who have made the passing of a loved one, our mother Joan McQuire, into a transition from life to eternal life an effortless but respectful voyage?

From the moment we met for the final arrangements to the day of the funeral we all felt that we were the focal point of the Team. The attention to detail as well as our feelings was met above and beyond any expectations. To single any one person out is not possible as they are a Team and as such all deserve to know that they have our deepest appreciation for making our Mother’s transition a wonderful experience.

Brian, you have amassed a wonderful and caring Team that fully embraces your vision. With that said I know that the McQuires’ are truly content with the respect and dignity offered to our Mom, Joan, and her family.

Ken McQuire

Dear Denis,

Thank you so very much for your kind attention and professionalism during funeral arrangements for Dr. Amal Mandal.  You certainly helped make a difference during this very difficult time.  We are all grateful.

This was perfection so we do not have suggestions or recommendations. We as a family unit were very impressed and humbled at the genuine concern and care for us during a most difficult time. Thank you so much.

On behalf of the Fr. Alphonse Kerckhaert Assembly #2289 in Windsor, I wish to thank you for your contribution towards our 5th Ontario District Exemplification Ceremony held on Saturday, June 11 of this year.

Without your efforts, it was probably not possible to have our Exemplification booklet printed by the Families First facilities.  We thank you for your participation in this endeavor and are extremely grateful.  As you are aware, an event of this nature can be very expensive so to relive us of the burden of costs for this venture is much appreciated.  Enclosed please find our Exemplification booklet which was published for the event.  Approximately 290 members, from south western Ontario, accompanies by their wives and/or lady friends attended the Exemplification.

On a personal note, I have enjoyed our friendship and hope to have it continue for many years ahead.

Thank you and God Bless.

Faithful Navigator Andy Harkness

Dear Families First Team,

We also thank Dennis Duguay and the graphics team for their attention to detail, as well as all the staff at the visitation and funeral. Thank you all for helping our family at a difficult time.

Dear Ms. Laub:

We would like to extend our most sincere appreciation for your professionalism and understanding throughout the visitation and funeral process for the late Councilor Michael Rohrer.

As you can imagine, this was an extremely difficult time for the family as well as the Council and Administration of the Town.  You and all the staff at Families First went out of your way to ensure the arrangements went smoothly and any special requests related to Mr. Rohrer’s status as a municipal official were accommodated without hesitation.

The support and expertise of you and your team certainly made a difference to us at this very sad time.  Thank you again for your outstanding work.

Sincerely,

Gary McNamara – Mayor

Tony Haddad – Chief Administrative Officer

I’ve never had to organize a funeral before so I wasn’t able to express the needs of the family.  However Jessica did a great job presenting all the options available and working out all the small details that we probably wouldn’t have thought of at the initial meeting.  – SYLVIA GRAY FAMILY

I have no recommendations as your services are excellent as is.  I would like however to compliment Kate Laub.  Kate was always available and took great care of us during our difficult time/.  She was compassionate, understanding, personable, knowledgeable, organized, attentive and professional. She anticipated our every need and fulfilled every one.  Kate was simply outstanding and she is truly an asset to your organization.  Kate and your organization will certainly be recommended to other by us.

Thank you, BERNIE DILUCA (Lucy Diluca’s Family)

Dear Danielle,
Thank you for all of your assistance with the funeral of my father, Orlando Spadafora.  I am deeply grateful for your patience, compassion, and attention to detail.  I am so glad my father’s funeral mass was at St. Angela and your words “You only get one chance to do this right” definitely helped with that decision.  I will always remember your kindness. Best regards, Alison Spadafora

How does Gesstwood Camp Golf Committee thank you for all your support for the signs, printing etc for us.  You do an amazing job for this charity and we appreciate this, you know how much this helps us. Thanks to Courtney and her crew as well. Sincerely, Mary

Brian and Mary-Lynn,
You have built a spectacular company and I am proud to have been a part of it.  Thank you both for giving me the fundamental tools to become a great funeral director. Warmest regards, Sara Macri

Your theme “Families First” is so true for everyone who comes to you for help and caring – as we did for my husband Art Taylor and our family.  It has been a year but we are still describing how caring you were from the minute we arrived and even now. Your cards, thoughts and wishes to help us in many ways – you were there for us – with many thanks and tears. Even at Christmas when your man came to my house with my lovely engraved “memorial” – beautiful.  I bought three more for our children, Karin, Cris and Kent.  They also now have a “treasure” and are happy that I have them one. Sincerely, Joy Taylor

Dear Marco,
I wanted to personally thank you again for everything you did to help support me and pull off Mom’s (Dr. Shelia Cameron) funeral.  Your kindness, your responsiveness, your attention to details were amazing and appreciated.  Also, your understanding especially when my blood pressure was going up due to my type A personality, your understanding nature was most appreciated.  Thank you for being good at your job! Sincerely Janine Galloway

Marco,
I don’t know here to start, during this difficult time in Dan and myselfs  life you were so supporting, knowledgeable and made us feel like family.  It was scary walking into that funeral home but your calm presence helped us get through it together.  The advice that you gave us without judgement meant the world to us.  I would also like to say that Randy was so kind when we went to drop off Jacks things.  Tara was amazing with her kind words during the service and staying with jack while they buried him as me and Dan were not strong enough to wait.  Your whole staff is amazing and again I would just like to say thank-you  Ashlee, Dan, Brayden and Dylan.

 Dear Elizabeth,
Thank you for your assistance during the funeral of my Father, Orlando Spadafora.  I am grateful for your support (and for going along with) my plan to keep the picture of my dad and my dog in his casket.  I smile whenever I think ofmy dog watching over him.  Best Regards: Alison Spadafora.

Dear Brian, Mary-Lynn, Denis and the Entire Families First Team members,
Words cannot express the gratitude we have for all your care, compassion and extreme professionalism during this difficult time in our live.  You truly make this hardship of life much more bearable and your tributes and attention to detail are exemplary! May God continue to bless you and your team as you continue to serve the families of Essex County during their time of need.  Eternally Grateful: The Family of the late Vincenzo Savoni

Jules
Thank you so much for the beautiful tribute to our father, George Stewart!
So many people commented afterward how amazing you were, and asked where we found such an incredible soloist!  We know Dad would have loved
it the most and can't thank you enough.  You have a wonderful gift!  Thank you for sharing it.
Richard, Sue, Mike, & Mark Stewart

Jules until you receive some unexpected financial reward from Windsor Police Service you are going to have to settle for my undying gratitude for your involvement with us yesterday at the Police Memorial. I'm certain you understand that we are deeply appreciative of your ready and willing spirit. Thanks, Chuck Congram

Thank you so very much Bill for your assistance in this difficult time, and your “go that extra mile” way of working. We will remember (how you stalked the priest, etc.), your kind voice, and that you made us smile this week, that was a feat.

With gratitude:

Lori & Edy Moras and Dana Damphouse and our families

Hello,   I  believe you are the kind fellow at the gift shop who helped me out yesterday.  I was at my aunt's funeral,    and you  allowed me to use your phone book and phone to call CAA.  I  am part of  the  McCormack family, I  was driving on the 401 from Toronto to the funeral as I  no longer live in Windsor, when my radiator blew up.

Can't remember thanking you,  just telling you my radiator woes,  your help was greatly appreciated.  Not the idea time and place to have to call CAA , in the middle of your family funeral,  especially when they were being difficult because I didn't stay on the 401 roadside with my minivan or leave my keys behind.  So,  giving me my privacy as I  tried to still be polite and not draw attention to my grumpy self was great of you.  If I  have the wrong person as I am going by your picture on the website please pass my thanks along.

The service and memorial was beautiful for her ,  you guys did a great job for our family.  Growing up in Windsor, one would think being a General Motors worker's daughter,  would give me good karma  to make it back there for a funeral  every few years  without drama, but apparently not in the cards!  So great for Families First   to come to my aid so I didn't have to walk to a payphone in my heels.

Sincerely,  Deb McCormack

Dear Jen,

How can we thank you enough for conducting such a beautiful celebration of life for our mother, grandmother & sweetheart meme. I know this is not typically your role however I wanted you to know how special you made her celebration and is truly appreciated by all of us.

Thank you for the flowers. Very much appreciated.

Brian,

Every employee of your business was completely professional, compassionate and well informed. From the arrangement conference, to the meal service, to the Life Story Book and DVD to Jules’ magical voice and willingness to accompany our Dana...complete to the delivery of flowers…our every wish was met. At these times in life, your services and beyond, were so appreciated by four generations of the Thompson family.

Simply the Best,

Paul & Terri Thompson

Colin

Gail Taylor (daughter of Andy St. Denis) called and wanted to say thank you for everything you did for their family. She said everything was fantastic and nothing was left out.

Mary Lynn and Brian

This week we had to say good bye to our Dad, Jerry Musyj.

My Dad left us way too soon. He was a healthy guy who was very active and truly never sick. However, knowing my Dad he would not have endured any long illness and left our earth on his own terms. It will be very difficult for my Mom who is also very healthy and active. They pretty much had three meals together everyday for 56 plus years.

In any event with this sudden passing, the immediate shock we needed to plan for the funeral. My Dad and Mom had made zero previous plans. Why ? They are the picture of health.

We called Families First only a couple hours after my Dad's passing. From the first call to the delivery of the flowers etc today your team has done a first class job. Truly. First class.

I recall my family saying "they had things there before we needed to ask for them".

Peter Lojewski took the lead and walked my family through each step of the way. He had others like his brother John step in at the night time to not miss a beat.

Peter allowed us to take the time we needed but also made things happen faster when my Mom started to tire and get stressed.

I need you to thank on my behalf everyone who was involved in my Dads care with your team. There are many I have missed. Truly you should be very proud of your team.

My Mom will have an tough next few days, months and years. However I can tell you the memories Peter and the team have created will allow her to smile and remember the outstanding celebration we were able to have for my Dad.

Again, thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Sincerely,

The Root family

Dear Danielle,

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for all that you and the staff of Family First did for my family and my father, Dennis Whiston. Your gentleness and professionalism helped ease our grieving hearts. My mother was touched with joy with the turquoise rosary, and she will treasure it forever. Thank you for your kindness.

May the Lord bless you,

Lesley Frederick

 The Staff of Families First,

“Thank You” seems so inadequate to be able to express our family’s gratitude for the beautiful arrangements and services to celebrate Guy’s life. Randi, Jerry and all the rest of your staff helped to make this difficult process so much more bearable. Your graphics team is of the highest calibre and how you are able to take a package of pictures from someone you do not know and so succinctly capture a person’s life is amazing.

With our sincere and heartfelt thanks, forever in your debt,

Norma, Cathy, Raymond & Colleen Forget & Families

Thank you for helping us with our final goodbye to our mum. It is much appreciated.

The Paunt family

Thanks to all the staff for everything you did for our family at such a sad time. It sure helped take the extra burden off us all. The kind and caring gesture by all of you never once went unnoticed. Once again for everything!

Sincerely,

Marlene Turkington & Family

Sorry for not sending sooner…so much to deal with.

Jules,

Thank you so much for signing at mom's funeral. Mom always raved about your signing and it meant so much to our family that you were there! You brought us to tears and it is something we'll always remember. Thank you!

Laura Garant and families of Louise Lenarduzzi!

Dear Mr. Brian Parent,

This letter is with special thanks to all of your staff who touched the lives of my entire family in the recent passing of my dear grandmother, Mrs. Nellie Desmarais on March 2, 2016.

I chose Families First Funeral Home to help paint a detailed portrait of a beautiful woman who was known as the matriarch of our family. With almost 20 years in the business and knowing what I wanted, I knew my vision for our final tribute to her would be complete with the expertise of your team. I can only imagine how proud you and your wife must be of all the dedicated, empathetic, loving, creative, sincere and top notch staff you have to represent you both. The level of service we received I can only describe as “White Glove and 5 star”.

The entire team did not disappoint. From my initial call with Marco and having him follow through with our arrangement meeting, to Sherri making sure the special casket we ordered was arriving on time to many of the staff that I had the pleasure of working when I was employed in Windsor taking the time to come see me, offer hugs and sincere sympathy. I felt so comforted.

To give a simple “Thank-you” to the following people, I know, in my mind will never fully express my gratitude for all their expertise, love and dedication respectfully given to my family.

To Sherri, Marco, Kirsten, Elizabeth, Basia, Wendy, Heather, Colin, Danielle, Jerry Marcotte, Denis Lemire, Bill and the entire Media team , I offer the most sincere and heartfelt acknowledgment of thanks for the obvious investment in time, display of preparation, skill and attention to detail that facilitated the best outcome possible for my family.

In closing, I want to add that it is evident that Families First Funeral Home is a leader in class, elegance and a tremendous asset to the community of Windsor- Essex County.

Sincerely,

Jeremy R. Desmarais Nellie Desmarais grandson

On behalf of Diane Giguere,

We would like to thank Families First for their kindness and help for us going through so much, especially Marco Sperduti for his calm words and comfort. He made our last visit with our loved one so special with his personal eulogy to make things easier at the end.

Laura,

I just wanted to thank you for all you have helped me with over the last bit... My vision of what I wanted for my mom is in my hands yet better. I could have never done this with the amazing service you gave and how amazing families first has been all along this process of almost a year.
I really wish I could explain how much this means to me that you helped me achieve this but also there will be no words to explain what this will be like for my mother.
This is perfect and beyond beautiful...
Thank you again

Liz Brown

Bill:    Wow, our family can't thank you enough for everything you did for us. You are a true gentleman with such class and charisma.

Family First made our time of sorrow easier to deal with.  You treated my Mom with such gentleness. My Dad was laid out so nicely. You were able to get his true likeness, with a smile that comforted us.  Unfortunately my husband and I forgot to get a memorial card. Is there any possibility that when you deliver the flowers and belongings to my mothers residence that if there are any extras available that you could be so kind to bring them along for our keepsakes. Once again thank you to you all  those whom were involved in the preparations for my dads service...

Colleen Sheldon Marentette  (Dicks Daughter)

My name is Carol Beutler.  I met you when arranging my moms service.  I cannot begin to tell you how impressed I was with how professional and caring you were.

I showed you her pictures and you took over.  You just knew the perfect way of displaying them.

When I left with my sisters, Elaine and Sue,  an overwhelming feeling of relief came over me.  I was confident you knew what I wanted for mom.  When I walked into the room and saw the video playing, the pictures on the lid, and the photos on the table, I was completely blown away.   The story of moms life was unfolding.  When the room quieted down Wednesday night and we were about to leave, by some miracle, her favourite song, Spanish Eyes was playing.  It was all meant to be.

I cannot thank you enough for the creative touches you and your team contributed to the service.  A special thank you to Debra and Peter for their help,  pleasant personalities and genuine caring they expressed to us on Thursday during the church service.

Families First did put out family first when dealing with out grief of our mom.  She had 90 years of life and you were able to display thows years. Mom is at peace now and our hearts are at peace also.  I guess as a team, Families First and the Stancek family, we were able to give her a wonderful send off.

Just a cute note. The weather was stormy till mid afternoon.  I was unpacking the flowers at home and a girlfriend texted.   Look outside, your mom is sending us a beautiful sunset.  I replied, it was her way of telling us she made it safely.

God Bless you all, and thanks again

Carol Beutler

Dear Brian & Mary-Lynn,
Thank you for your note of Condolence regarding our extraordinary Mom, Joanna Peters.
My Sisters, Eleanor and Diane, Our Brother Jim and I want to thank you for the truly wonderful service all of your staff provided our family.
Colin McIntyre guided us though the unbearable task of planning a service with extraordinary kindness, caring and professionalism.  We realize it is his job- but we all felt his compassion and empathy, his well chosen words, direct unhurried eye contact and gentle manner as personal.  Out of respect for our wonderful mom and our profound loss.
Danielle did a wonderful job of guiding our service with sensitivity, compassion and great dignity and in doing so, honoured our Mom’s belief in Love and respect.
Kris helped guide the service with professionalism and sensitivity.  His attention to detail, to all aspects of the service and to our guests, was noticed with gratitude.  Kris also delivered the photos and flowers to my home with dignity and such a gentle, caring manner.
Courtney was wonderfully patient and caring as we tried to forward jpges, as well as being truly compassionate in response to a ‘harried’ phone call.  We are truly grateful for her exquisite graphic art skills in creating our prayer cards, small memorial card and digital sign honouring our wonderful Mom. Thank you Brian and Mary-Lynn for hiring such wonderful staff.
The kindness, gentleness, compassion, respect and professionalism exhibited by all those mentioned guided us in our shock and deep grief.  Their understanding that love and profound loss have nothing to do with age made the unbearable task of planning, bearable, and provided us with a service that reflected the love and respect that our mom lived and guided us in.
We are all so truly grateful from the Bottom of our hearts.

Thank you,
With Respect and all good wishes to you.

Dear Tara,

It was important to me to acknowledge the impact that you had on my life because you made a difference and showed so much car, compassion and tenderness.  I had no idea what adversities I was going to face, or how I would feel as I processed my sister’s death.  I want you to know that you and your team made it easier and gave me some beautiful memories.

Most of all I want to thank you for the extra things that you did out of sincere kidness.  I received a message that was loud and clear, that her life mattered.

With all my heart,

THANK YOU!

(Chrissy Warden)

Dear Colin,

We just wanted to take a moment to let you know how very appreciative we are for all the guidance and direction you provided for the entire family during this very difficult time.

We, for the past 46 years (since my brother Vince passed away) were certain that we would lay our Dad to rest at Janisse Brothers just like we had done for his son. But after witnessing the beautiful job that you guys did for Venessa Varacalli (my Dad’s niece) the week before, we were hopeful that changing venues was what our Dad would have wanted. It is one of the best family decisions that we could have made and also one that we are all very proud to be a part of.

Colin, you allowed us to laugh when we needed it, and of course you allowed us to cry when it was inevitable. Your tone was supportive, never judgmental, always compassionate and understanding. You are a true professional.

Your work with the kids was so important to them. You made them feel welcomed in the proceedings. Your  ability to configure the Seating arrangements so that everyone had the opportunity to feel included was quick and decisive. I remember at one point, you asked me if we had selected Pallbearers. Once I answered Yes, you already knew that one of them had a cane. Finally, the compassion you showed towards our Mom tells us that not only are you a tremendous Funeral Director, but also that you are a nice man. We can’t thank you enough.

To the staff of Families First, everything was fantastic. My Dad would have been so pleased and proud of the Funeral Service you guys provided.

To the designer (I believe it was Simone), You did a great job. You listened and spent the time needed to tell a wonderful story of a very good man.

It was as if we were sitting beside you when you selected the pictures and where they should go…

To Danielle, who was always available when Colin was tied up, Thank you for listening and helping.

To Russ, for the ‘class and elegance’ that he provided during the most difficult drive we have ever been on, Thanks!

Finally, there was a young man who drove us home after everything was done on Monday. He was telling all of us that he was in training to be a Funeral Director. Our suggestion to him was simple…Watch Colin and learn from him. If you do that, you will become the perfect Funeral Director.

With love and thanks

Dear Courtney and Families First,

I wanted to thank you for printing the tickets for my grandson William Quenneville’s benefit. We were raising money for him to receive treatment in Chicago in July. We have just returned with so much information to help him. We now understand how this rare auto immune disorder works and now have a new diet and tools to make him healthy again. As well, we learned how parts of his brain were injured and have been given exercises and programs to work with him over the next year to remediate the issues there. It is through the kindness of people such as yourselves, that we were able to make such a positive difference in William’s life and giving him a chance to live a life of normalcy and healthy.

In Grateful appreciation,

Lucille Soulliere

Dear Brian,

Thank you for the phone call- much appreciated! Your staff are very cooperative and compassionate- they couldn't so enough for us, before and after the celebration. Our guests were very impressed with the facilities. It was appreciated that the ladies from the church were allowed to provide refreshments for our guests before the service and I trust all was left in good order. Please accept our sincere thanks for everything.

Bev Boucher

Dear Staff,

All I can say is "THANK YOU" from my7 heart. You all were very caring and cooperative- we all felt so welcome. Richard was a wonderful Husband, Father and Papa and he deserved a very dignified and happy celebration and you granted that. Your help before and after the celebration was very appreciated. God bless you all!

Dear Brian,

Eddie knew that money and I part quickly so he hid away one hundred dollar bills for years to pay for his own burial. He left specific instructions to minimize the cost so I wouldn't be left with a huge debt. Your gift of the beautiful canvas portrait, the wonderful slide show and the guest book that you sent to the church will be treasured forever by our family. Tara, the staff member you sent helped us immensely before and after the funeral mass. Her guidance and compassion was greatly appreciated. Because of you we were able to give a very special man a very special sound off to Heaven. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will never forget your generosity and kind words of tribute to my Eddie. It is so nice to know that others also realized what a great man he was.

Sincerely,

Judy Kreibich

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Parent,

Once again, thank you for your sponsorship!

My mother recently passed away (Feb. 26) and we were still in Tokyo getting ready to fly home.    Mom was in a nursing home in Sarnia.   I looked up your number, called and spoke to Collin.   He gave me a list of what I needed to bring in with me, and assured me  you would look after Mom.    I had to call back again after I talked to the nursing home to make sure no would arrive before the doctor had been in.   Needless to say, it was a complicated and long 38 hour day, and a hellish flight home, but the one we had been booked on anyway.   We dealt with her stuff in the nursing home Saturday and met with Bill Robert on Sunday at the Lauzon Road location.    It's actually about a block away from where I grew up.   I had heard about how great the funeral home was, but had never been there before.

The reason I'm writing is to let you know that as hard as this whole situation was, Bill Robert made it so easy for me.   I'm an only child, so there was no one else who could step in.    Bill had us there for 3 hours on Sunday, but when we left absolutely everything was done.   People commented to me how smoothly it went, and 'what  a great job I did'.   I feel like I shouldn't have taken any credit because Bill  was responsible.   At times it seemed like he was reading my mind.   I'd mention something in passing, or 'wondered out loud' and the next thing I knew he was there saying "it's already done".   He seemed to always be there, behind me, but not in a hovering way - whenever I seemed to be looking for something, he was just there.   His demeanour was always perfect for the occasion, and I simply can't say how much what he did that made it all so simple for me.   He wasn't noticed by anyone, but whenever I was flagging, or just looked around, there he was with a glass of water, or wanting to know what I needed.  (He even helped with an emergency gluing of my shoe soles after we had sloshed through slush at the cemetary earlier on the Tuesday.)  We had our lunch there through Capri, before the cemetary, because I had some frail relatives that were worried about not being able to go out there.    He had the perfect suggestion that we do lunch right after the service, and go to the cemetary later.   Dozens of people told me they were so grateful for that.   I also have had terrific reports on the lunch provided by Capri.   When we returned from the cemetary to pick up some of the flowers, etc. he had everything ready for us.   I realize that a lot of this is part of the typical funeral home service, but I really had to let you know how amazing Bill was.   I was shaking when I first got there, partly from jet lag and partly from being nervous and emotional, but within minutes, things were rolling along and we were making decisions and I felt confident that it would all work out well.  I left Sunday without a worry.  Government paperwork, the lunch, the flowers, everything was decided on, and taken care of.

Thank you again for such a well run professional organization.    Living in Sarnia means I probably won't need your services again, but I will definitely recommend you to anyone who asks.   I used to go to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, and was kind of sad to hear that it had been replaced, but now that I've been in, I see that it was a perfect transformation.

Sincerely,

Donna Engelhardt

Hello Brian and to your Families First Family

My husband and I attended last night’s session on grief with Dr. Alan Wolfelt at the Caboto Club. My heart felt thank you for offering this excellent service and speaker. Your entire team provided a friendly smile and direction on where to go-with over 1,000 people in attendance it was a bit overwhelming.

Having Jules sing is always a wonderful touch on such a dark and very personal topic. Your attention to detail is second to none. From having a pen to write down ideas and quotes from Dr. Wolfelt, to having a bottle of water to drink, Families First  gracious enough to provide coffee and muffins to eat.

You truly help not only people like me who have lost people we love dearly but you also give back to the community with your generous donation to the Goodfellows.

Brian, you truly are a class act and it is so nice to see you and your employees who care for people and community. We do not see this enough in our society.

Once again, it is my pleasure dealing with Families First.

Excellent job and please keep that personal touch going. It  means the world.

Debbie Gouin

Hi,

Just wanted to say thank you so much for organizing everything for my Grandmas funeral.  You did a great job, and families First did a great job.  My mom thanks you and everyone as well.

Thanks Jill Gelinas

We want to thank the entire team at Families First.

From  our first meeting with Tara, who was so patient and thorough, we knew we would be well cared for in making the final arrangements for our dad.  My husband who works with estate planning said he has never seen a more comprehensive package.  When the task at hand seems so overwhelming your step by step materials were clear and concise and comforting. We so appreciated the help for things, like putting together the obituary and the order of service for the church.  Thank you. Everything was done without delay, so that  well after the funeral  as we continue to put the pieces of our life together, we are still saying thank you for all your great work.

The facilities were amazing and things ran so smoothly, even the dinner we ordered  on the night of visitation was great.  Just perfect for us.

A special thank you to the graphics team.  We were so touched by all the beautiful family photos, and the way they were organized and presented.   The graphics really did a lot to help us remember my father as he was. We especially appreciate the graphics on the casket.  SO much was done to give my father dignity.  We are deeply grateful!

We also especially appreciated the private time we had as family, to take in all the preparation that was done for our dad.  WE\e never would have realized how important that would be, thank  you again for anticipating our needs.

On the blisteringly cold day when we laid my father to rest, the team never pushed us, and allowed us our own pace.  They waited patiently for this large family to say goodbye and moved us along efficiently and gracefully.

Thank you.  Thank you all.  Your respectful, professional, caring, made the world of difference in our grief.

Sincerely,

Lori Wright for Carol Bauer and family

Courtney:

Thank you so very much for helping us create the beautiful Premium Remembrance card for my father-in-law.  I can’t tell you how much our family members liked and appreciated them as a “keepsake”.  It was so very kind of you to make that possible and easy for us.  Take care and thank you again, Andrea, Randy, Kim Casier and family.

Dear Brian and Mary Lynn,

Thank you very much for your kindness, attention to detail & your listening ear but especially for the reduction of my bill which I was not expecting.  P.S. I played cards last Friday night with your mom at Duchene’s house.  She’s quite a character & a shrewd player. LOL.  Bliss & Blessings to you and yours.

-Donna Renaud and one again thank you.

To all of you, our heartfelt thank you for your caring, compassion and kindness for our family.  Your continued support has been a blessing through this difficult time.  Especially as Christmas approaches.  The gift you sent is beautiful and will be cherished always!!  From our hearts, The Sarty Family

Dear staff at Families First,

Today marks the one year anniversary of my son Dominic’s passing.  I remember going through a difficult time, as well as my wife Monique.  However, your staff helped put our mind at ease with your professionalism & courtesy during our loss.  I was surprised this winter as someone from your staff arrived at our home and brought us a Christmas ornament with our sons name on it.  The day before my wife asked if we could go and get such a thing made in his memory.  Imagine our surprise when you unexpectedly brought one to us.  I sincerely apologize for not doing this long ago.  Please accept a small token of my gratitude for the excellent work you have done over the past year & helping our family keep my son’s memory.  This is my first dealing with Families First, and I have to say you guys are truly amazing.  I will definitely be calling on you guys again if the unfortunate happens.  Please do not change your approach as I believe you guys are doing everything the way a funeral home should.  Much thanks and appreciation.

-Joshua Stebelski & family

Families First Funeral Home, Brian & Mary Lynn & staff,

From the moment we entrusted our wife and mother Mary Connors to Families First, we knew she was in a caring place that would ensure her dignity and respect.  Your staff had such a helpful and calming presence.  They were very compassionate and professional.  Our sincere appreciation and thanks for the compassionate regard you have all shown to our family at this difficult time.  Everything was done just as discussed and our wishes were entirely met.  A special thank you to John Lojewski; your professionalism and knowledge, perfectly balanced by your sensitivity and caring attention to every detail made the experience easier and this final tribute to her a special memory.  We felt especially comfortable working with you.  You exceeded all our expectations and we are truly appreciative.  Thank you Simonne McNorton for bringing my vision to life on video.  This was a beautiful tribute to our Mother’s life and one we will Treasure forever.  Thank you to all your staff for their patience, kindness, and love during our time of bereavement.  We appreciate your kindness and would not hesitate to recommend Families First in the future.  Warmest thanks John Connors & family.

Dear Brian & Mary Lynn,

Words cannot express how thankful we are to the entire staff at Families First for taking care of our mother & our Nonna Maria Iafrate.  Thank you for your support, your kindness, your thoughtfulness and lovely dinner.  We would like to thank Jessica for loving Nonna to the very end; to Tara & Kate, thank you for your artistry in making our Nonna look absolutely beautiful; to Courtney, Simonne and the graphics team, thank you for your meticulous detail in capturing Nonna’slife.  Thank you Brian for your kind words…poignant and relevant and for everything that you did for our family.  That’s why Families First is First.  Sincerely, Mossie Iafrate and family.

Dear Brian & Mary Lynn,

I just wanted to send a note to thank you and all of your staff for making a very difficult situation much easier.  To start I must say that Jennifer Wells was absolutely fabulous.  She took care of everything including things I never would have thought about.  During the viewing Jessica was so helpful and able to keep everything organized, including us, so once again we had nothing to worry about.  The fact that you looked after all the paperwork after the funeral was an added bonus.  I have talked to everyone I know about how great you service is and I couldn’t have gotten through all this without everyone on your team.  Thanks again, Marianne Villeneuve.  P.S.  I was also pleased with how beautiful my Mom looked.  She would have been so happy.

Dear Tara & staff of Families First,

Thank you so much for the outstanding care and comfort you provided to us during the loss of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother.  Tara-you made the process of saying goodbye dignified and loving.  All of your calmness, even with the freezing rain, kept all of us calm too.  To each and every member of your staff, thank you.  Ida looked gorgeous, you helped us to carry out her wishes and you allowed us our own special touches.  The graphics department did an outstanding job on the remembrance cards and guest book.  Her framed picture will hang in her home.  Your process of notifying government agencies and the insurance company has given us peace of mind in that nothing has been overlooked.  Thank you also to the drivers who took such great care of us on Saturday and to Gerry for his delivery on Monday.  You are indeed very special people.  Thank you again, Ray Iannucci & family

To the staff of Families First Funeral Home,

We would like to extend our deepest appreciation for the pleasant and sensitive assistance with the visitations and funerals of both our father, Herb Jones on September 25th and 11 days later, our mother, Rita Josephine (Jo) Jones on October 6, 2014.  We were very fortunate to have Jessica Sylvestre as our director, guiding us through many decisions with care and compassion.  Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for her and Families First is very fortunate to have her as a member of the team.  Many thanks from all of us, the family of Herb & Jo Jones.

Dear Brian, Mary Lynn & the Families First Team,

Thank you for the condolences.  The whole memorial service was so beautiful and well done.  I couldn’t have asked for more.  Congratulations to the staff for their patience and kindness in taking care of our every need till the last moment.

Thank you again, Evelyn Huang

Just wanted to say Thank you from myself and family for all the wonderful help you gave.   We were in awe of what was done for Harvey on our behalf.  It made our time so much easier while we were dealing with our great loss.  Time heals but, you have helped so much and thanks seems like such a small word, but, it is meant sincerely.

Yours in friendship, Mary Nichol.

I couldn’t let the New Year start without telling you how much your cards & tree ornaments in memory of my sisters; Mary Jessop and Eileen Austin were appreciated to grieving families the thoughtfulness of you and your staff means so much.  Our family wishes all of you a happy & healthy 2015.

To Whom it may concern:

At the end of November 2014, you had a wake at Families First on Lauzon Road for a Richard Lauzon.  All arrangements were taken care of by Social Services.  I want to thank you for the kindness & dignity, shown to myself and family members, who were allowed to attend.  In spite of circumstances, “Rick” was well loved by family so this meant a lot to us!  Also want to thank the gentleman who brought “Rick’s ashes” to the cemetery in Stoney Pointe, on December 6th.  He was very respectful & kind, very understanding to all who attended.  He is to be commended.  I appreciate how all was taken care of, from start to finish.  God bless you!! Rick’s Aunt & family.

I can’t think of anything more you could have done for our family. Having our meal at the Funeral Home is a real convenience it gives the family time to relax and spend time together without the worry of having to rush back for evening visitation.

Amazing family owned company. Everyone was polite and respectful. One on one comments lifted my spirits at a very dark time ex. I asked how my dad (lost May 2014) looked. Kates answer was “he looks very handsome” and he did. My mom (lost Oct 2014) looked beautiful. Devastating time but excellent experience

Hello Brian,

Alex Gramada and us (the kids!) wanted to thank you for going above and beyond what we ever expected in the care and professionalism shown by all of your staff for the funeral service of our mother Gail Gramada.   Families First is truly a first class operation!

So many of the guests in attendance of Gail’s service were overwhelmed by how perfect everything looked and presented so beautifully.  We couldn’t agree more.

From our first meeting, the private family visitation, the wonderful service, accommodating any requests we had, to the excellent follow-up received, every step was provided with so much care and respect and helped to reduce the stress of a difficult time.  The excellent service received allowed family and friends to grieve, without the worries normally associated with dealing with a funeral.

The canvas print that was delivered to Al this week was very well received and has been placed prominently where it can be seen by everyone that visits him.  A very nice touch that is very much appreciated.

Thank you for all the ‘extras’ that you provided to make her service a wonderful celebration of her life.

God bless you, your family and all your staff.

Sincerely,

Jeff Lambing

Hello Brian

We loss my Dad, Nick Macko in May of 2014 and most recently my Mom, Mary Macko in October 2014. They had their funerals all arranged by Families First on Dougall Avenue. Kate Laub was the funeral director for my Dad. She was lovely to deal with. Her kindness and gentle approach at a most vulnerable time was extremely appreciated by myself and siblings. Her attention to detail was second to none. Kate walked us through such a dark time in our lives. We also had Jules Gouin sing at my Dad’s funeral. He was lovely and gave such comfort to the family through song. I know he must sing the same songs over and over again but it was like he was singing for the first time and the peace he gave us will never be forgotten.

Kate and Jules were such a comfort to us as a family that when our Mother died two weeks ago we asked for Kate and Jules again. Once again they both walked our family down a too familiar path on planning and music. Words cannot truly tell you how professional and kind these two of your employees were to our family.

I am not sure how many letters you receive on this topic but please know that your devotion to families at a very devastating time in their lives is truly appreciated. We had the delight of having you on my Mom’s funeral as Kate was working at your Lauzon location at the same time. You are good Brian but Kate is exceptional-LOL. I just thought I would put a plug in for her. Jules has such a voice that it actually sounds like an angel singing my parents favourite songs that I know they would have truly loved.

Know that you are doing an excellent job, your employees are wonderful and with the expansion of your catering services, of which we truly enjoyed, is second to none.

To know that an establishment like yours is available when families need such comfort and guidance whether the death is planned or unexpected has been a wonderful gift to receive.

With great respect,

Deb (Macko) Gouin

Hi Brian

I would like to thank you and your staff for the great way you assisted me and my family during the Funeral and Visitation process for my wife Gillian.

Chuck Congram has always said you treated the families First, and it showed.

Between Denis Duguay and Wendy Skreptak, who both went way above what I expected.

Your whole team did more than anyone could expect, but did it to help all my family members, and it showed everywhere.

Please pass on sincere thanks to everyone, they all did a fantastic job and made it a smooth process.

You should be very proud of your team.

To the Dear Families First staff,

I just wanted to say a big and sincere thank you for all you did to make the funeral service for my uncle, Remo Fanelli, so touching and special. Everyone in my family loved the photo slide show. I love the photo book that's available on your website. The building was warm, inviting and immaculate. My family and I were especially impressed with the two young men working this past Sunday evening. I didn't catch their names, but they were incredibly respectful, polite and helpful. It is very rare these days to see young men who are well-dressed, articulate and who conduct themselves like men. They really made an impression on us. Gerry was very helpful and comforting as well, with a kind face and gentle words. Marco made this very difficult time much more bearable, even pleasant. He didn't mind that there were so many babies in our family. He helped us find a quiet office for my daughters to rest. He had a gentle sense of humor and even sang to my daughters in Italian! Before the funeral, we had heard wonderful things about Families First, and now we have seen first hand that every word we heard is true. I have nothing but praise and genuine thanks for all you did to make this very sad time for my family a little bit easier to bear.

With a grateful heart,

Bianca Morgan

This thank you is one of many on your website but it needs to be said again.

We were treated so warmly from the first moment we contacted you. The team is wonderful but I myself must point out Jessica. She went out of her way for the little ones attending the goodbye to their great grandma. They now have the proper knowledge to go forward with these kind of events in their lives. But she went the extra distance when she arranged to be there on Sunday when my grandchildren were coming for their visit as they could not attend the first visitation. Jessica spent time with them and then was gone before I could thank her personally. It meant so much to myself and my husband that she made it for them. Truly appreciated. She is a special gem. The other accolade goes to Jerry....he made the funeral day as easy as these days can be. You really have picked great people for your "team".

Others not to be forgotten are John Eansor, Kris and ........Ruth thanks for the talk..

(She will know what that means).

Every detail is thought out and taken care of with such expertise.

We are blessed that Julie chose you for her final journey.

A BIG thank you to my Families First family. The care, compassion and attention to detail was over and above for my grandmother's visitation/service. The comments I received from my family made me so proud to work for Families First as well reminded me how important our services are for families in need. The dinner in between was much appreciated by everyone, I actually got to sit and "relax" on the patio before 7pm- WOW what a peaceful spot! Graphics team, although I know what you guys are capable of you managed to surprise me with your best! You captured the essence of my grandmother which was noted by all who attended. Thank you to everyone who made sure her celebration was just perfect and allowed me to be a granddaughter in the process.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth

Hi Jen

I just wanted to express to you my sincere gratitude for everything you did for us during such a trying time.  It is difficult sometimes being the only “rock” my mom has left and you helped out so much with that by handling everything with the service for us and left me to worry about dealing with her needs.  You have a wonderful ability of taking what little information you are given and creating a masterpiece in my eyes.  There is no one that knew him personally that could have done better!  My mom still talks about how pleased she was with the service. Obviously, this is your “job”, but I just wanted you to know how much it was appreciated and noted that you do go above and beyond.

It was very touching how you incorporated the special picture of his precious “up north” lake view into the condolence cards, etc., even at the very last minute…….Amazing.

Everyone commented to me on how it flowed so nicely between yourself and Jules, who has a beautiful voice by the way.  And of course, I still can’t believe you managed to get him to play “that one song” that was not on his list, but meant so much to us.  You’re the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I will be forever grateful.

Brian, Mary Lynn and their staff are exceptional people, and your institution runs like a well oiled machine, as my dad would have said!!!  From the minute we entered through your doors on that first day, we received nothing but the best care and patience from Debbie, Jen, Brian, Marco and of course all the others who were just present and willing to help at the drop of a hat.  I could go on and on………………but I am positive that you have heard this from several other families in the past as well because this kind of care and compassion will never go unnoticed.

Keep up the good work and Thank You ALL from the bottom of our hearts.

Michelle Cooper and Pat Desjardins

Dear Bill,

Well a year has passed and I have had you on my mind to call and thank you for everything you did for our family when our mom, dad’s wife passed away last year on May 18th.

There are/were so many things you did to show compassion, care, empathy and it has all been etched into our minds and memories. Different family members heard, saw and felt varied emotion and we all agree that when we were in your facility that our dignity was upheld and good, honest support was behind us with your team’s help.

You, Bill, were our shining star the day we were in the boardroom putting together the arrangements and composing the obituary. The fact that you took time to ask us about dad’s wife and our mom and gave those of us that chose to say a few words did so – it was so powerful and we hope that you have an idea just how powerful by the fact that we mention it now….one year later.

At Christmastime, Dad had a very special delivery, hand-delivered by one of your colleagues – a memorial ornament with Mom’s name engraved. This was indeed a piece of love that Dad and the rest of us will cherish. Our sincere thanks again for that thoughtful gift.

It has taken this amount of time for me to compose and send this note.  It was a rough year for all of us – with the occasional eye leaking condition (which I call it).  I thought it best to write this now and maybe place a call and see how you are doing and verbally thank you Bill!

You were our hero over those rough few days.  Thanks hardly meets the mark – I wish I had a better word – Gratitude is close.

We wish you the best ~ The Clark Clan

Dear Marcel,

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the important role you played after my father, Maurice St. Pierre’s, death last December. You were kind, caring, thoughtful, professional and humorous. You made us feel like we were being watched over by a loving member of the family or by a smiling, guardian angel. You anticipated and met all our needs. The highest compliment I can pay you, Marcel, is to say that my Dad would have really liked you. You are an exceptional man and I’m so glad that I had the pleasure to meet you. With fond regards and a grateful heart.

Dear Jules,

We wish to thank you for your beautiful contribution of music at the memorial service for Estella Leach. It was a lovely source of comfort to all of us. We were touched that you researched and adapted Mom’s favourite tune “Elmers Tune” and from a piano piece to a guitar piece. Our eyes and our little ones spirits immediately lit up when you began to play this meaningful tune. You sparked a high note within the grandchildren which turned our sadness to the happiness that day.  Although we indeed enjoyed all your songs, it is “Elmers Tine” that is dancing in all our heads still. We know this is going to be a comforting memory for us always. Thank you Jules for going out of your way to make Silver’s mother’s memorial service a uniquely comforting one.

Sincerely Silver and Margaret Leach

My mom is in a better place and believe me she is taking good care of your baby just as you did with hers. For that I say Thank You! They are both “dancing in the sky”

Dear Mr. Parent

I feel the need to write the thank Families First for the fine job you did with the recent funerals of both my parents, Elizabeth and Louis Chakmak. Each staff member I encountered displayed a commitment to teamwork, communication and compassion. I was very impressed with the fact that anyone I spoke to was familiar with my situation and ready to offer help of any kind. I would like to mention specifically Jerry Marcotte, Danielle Mayrand and Sherri Tovell-Regnier (for our common quest of one perfect obituary in the Windsor Star) In particular, you have a special employee in Elizabeth Pessotto. She made a very, very difficult task for easier to deal with. She is kind, personable and empathetic and my husband and I believe she has found her true calling. All of their hard work ensured beautiful and meaningful tributes for two very special people.

Hi Brian and MaryLynn:

As you probably know by now, I imposed upon your staff and asked them if they would make up a photo book for my cousins wedding reception this past weekend. Alex was married a week before he left on his last stint in Afghanistan in a very small ceremony so we were having a reception to celebrate his wedding and his return.  However, this idea was a last minute idea.  I didn't think that Families First would be able to accommodate my last minute request - but as is the "Families First" way, they were more than accommodating from the very first call.  Jen, Courtney and Anne all took the time to email and call and I was so impressed with everyone and their attention to detail.  On Saturday when we had a small issue with Purolator, Anne immediately started to make calls and kept me informed every step of the way.  This morning, the book arrived and it is nothing short of spectacular! Your graphic artists are absolutely amazing. I'll be honest, I didn't give them much to deal with - I just emailed a bunch of pics and said "feel free to add some love stuff" if you want.... You know me - not much of a romantic but I can't wait to share this book with Alex and Erica - as well as with the entire family.  The families of Windsor are very lucky that you offer this service and are very fortunate that you always put "Families First".

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Carolyn

Dear Brian,

On behalf of my family, I would like to thank you and your team for such a thorough and caring handling of the details for my Dad's funeral.

I realize the handling of all the details of a funeral is your business, and a routine that you are all too familiar with, but we felt that you and your staff were extremely attentive to our needs and to every aspect to pay tribute to Dad.  We appreciated your team's guidance in planning for the visitation, to make the room warm and inviting with the display of my Dad's favourite belongings.  The video showing pictures of my Dad throughout memorable points in his life was breathtaking!  I have seen all these pictures in the past but for some reason when you see them all together on a big screen it is a bit overwhelming.  We received many complimentary comments from friends and family on how much they enjoyed seeing those pictures.

A pizza dinner at the funeral home between visitation times and a luncheon at the Legion was suggested by your staff.  Brilliant idea!!! Some of the family was reluctant to remain at the funeral home to eat.  I understand that, but the warm and inviting room that you have and the lack of having to get somewhere and back again with a group made this the perfect choice.  Then when it turned out to be extremely windy and rainy certainly  no one wanted to go out.  The dinner ended up being on my Dad's birthday and we were able to eat as a family and shared quite a few laughs together. The Legion was also an ideal choice.  They were great to deal with, it was so close to the cemetary and the meal was just right and at a reasonable cost.  Thanks to your staff for making these suggestions.

The casket pictures of my Dad throughout the years was remarkable!  Something we didn't expect.  The memorial cards your staff created were perfect.  Again better than I could have ever expected.  Your graphics team is awesome.  Please extend our appreciation for their work on turning the last minute gathering of photos into a touching tribute, one that we can look at forever.

Brian, thanks for all the extra touches that you have provided to make my Dad's funeral a wonderful tribute to him and a lasting positive memory for his family.  The casket photo spread was framed when your team dropped it off to us, another nice touch, and it is already hung above the TV where my dad spent hours watching the sports that he loved. The photo booklet and DVD that you provided me is spectacular.  I couldn't believe how well it was put together.  Thank you!

Your business is spoken highly of, and I can see first hand why it is so deserving of the accolades that I have heard from others that have had to plan a funeral for a family member.  Please extend my family's gratitude and appreciation for all you and your team have done to pay tribute to my Dad at the time of his funeral.

With sincere gratitude,

Janice McCarthy

Mr & Mrs B. Parent and Jessica Sylvestre,

On behalf of our whole family we wish to convey our sincerest thanks to everyone who helped us in our time of need. Jessica was extremely helpful in guiding us through making numerous decisions while shock and grief are very evident. She really knows how to work with people and most of us were sleep deprived (because the death happened at 2:20 AM). We arrived home about 5 AM and then you cannot get to sleep. I basically knew what Rengo’s wishes were when it came to casket style, etc. and flowers. I think we arranged things fairly good because our oldest daughter was friends with Kathy Heney Mother in next room and people had to wait 45 minutes in line while passing by all relatives and casket. It was Brenda’s suggestion that we stay in groups so that if people were coming in from their workplace, I would not necessarily know them so they could acknowledge them & chat. It is more informal and relaxed. Rengo’s sister and brother-in-law could greet them in Italian. Monica and Graham with the 19 month old was over in the corner so he could mover around. Rob & family mingled around or stood next to me. Just a suggestion if family has children under 10 years old. We received much praise for the write-up in newspaper, the arrangement of pictures and flowers, the higher chairs for myself so elderly people did not have to bend down, the prayers by Frances Conway, friendliness of staff & being helpful. Sorry I do not remember the name of fellow in charge of car line-ups, hearse, flower car, limos and getting us safely to cemetery. Then giving us a flower from family spray for keepsake, plus the cross. The service at Corpus Christi was also very fitting and people remarked on singer Jules especially when he sang ‘Ave Maria’ at the end of the funeral. I just know Rengo Andreatta would be very pleased with his final send off. He would have enjoyed pizza in lunch room. Again, we wish to thank you for everything in conjunction with helping us with his funeral and looking after family.

      Sincerely,

Lois Andreatta, Brenda, Mike & Lia Stomp, Rob, Karen, Allison & Joey, Monica, Graham & Sammy Rogers

Brian, Mary-Lynn, + Team

Words cannot express how much you all helped us in the loss of our mother, Mary. Your patience, time spent with us answering all our questions, fulfilling our many requests, your care and concern, all helped to give mom a final celebration we know she was proud of. Our final image of her was radiant, peaceful and the mom we were used to seeing, something we hadn’t experienced in months. The placement of flowers and pictures and the video were perfect. In your card sent to me on behalf of my family, the words ‘trust’, ‘thoughtful service’, and ‘confidence’ were used and your professional service to us is very indicative of how your goals were accomplished. In dealing with other professionals this past week for mom’s estate, all we heard was ‘Families First is the best!’ we know that and thank you!!!

You are a success because of the kind of person you are and the way you treat others. They certainly raised a terrific son. Again, thank you so much for everything. I Know Joe would have loved his ‘send off’!

To whom it may concern,

I just wanted to take a quick moment to express my deepest thanks to the staff of Families First on Dougal Ave.

The morning after my father passed away, we walked into Families First and were immediately met with a kind, smiling face willing to help us.  Within minutes, we were met by Denis.  He welcomed us, offered his condolences, and made sure that we were comfortable.  Our consultation was professional, but very laid back.   Denis was very precise is his actions.  He made sure that we were aware of all of the Memorial Services that Families First offered.  He was straight and to the point and  never placed any pressure on us to add services that did not fall in line with our father's last wishes.  In addition, to his credit, he quickly adapted to our families quirky sense of humour, which in itself is a testament to his professionalism.  In short, Denis is an absolutely incredible director and an asset to your business. Many thanks.

In addition to our personal experiences with Denis, we were very impressed with every aspect of Families First.  The facility is clean and welcoming.  Each and every person that we dealt with offered a sincere sense of urgency and care.

Thank you for making a difficult passage in life a lot easier to traverse.  Going forward, I will be happy to recommend your services to any of my family, friends, colleagues and associates.

Kind regards,

Peter White

During the arrangement conference, how was our team at conveying different options, answering questions and listening to the needs of your family?

"Marco explained all the options available and took the time to go through all of them.  He listened to my ideas and offered help when I needed it.  Marco also suggested the soloist, Jules Gouin and it was money well spent.I'd like to thank Marco, John, Jen, Kim and all of the staff for a job well done."

Final Comments

"The passing of my father really hit me hard.  The kindness, compassion and respect my family and I were given by the staff of Families First was excellent to say the least.  From the moment I was greeted by the staff, I felt like they were an extension of my family.

The soloist Jules Gouin was amazing.  The music definitely added to the service.

The graphics team is truly incredible.  The DVD, memorial cards and casket panel were real works of art. Thanks to everyone at Families First

sincerely John J.Hidi"

We loved the baking display and the memory board for Audrey.  The cards and the guestbook were beautiful.  Lloyd was very content with it all.  We talked to Tara and told her about your kindness to us all.  Audrey/mom was in your excellent care!! Thank you!

Bill, you took us in your hands and all was well.  Your connections to the church helped our family.  Your guidance in everything was appreciated.  Thank you also, for the words at the cemetery.  So sincere!!

Mr. Brian Parent & staff

We would like to thank you and your staff from the Lauzon Road location for everything that was done to help my family with the recent passing of my Dad & my husand C.M. "Moe" Armstrong.  Mr. Jerry Marcotte and Mr. Marco Sperdutti were absolutely fantastic.  Please let them know that everything they did and said was greatly appreciated.

Dear Brian,

My siblings and I thank you and your great staff for the attention and respect you afforded our Dad, Victor Himsl, while he rested at Families First.  The caring that went into every detail, from his removal from Sunrise Senior's Centre to his interment at Heavenly Rest, will remain with us always.

Courtney's creative graphics of Dad's life provided a delightful walk down memory lane.  Albeit sad, the Veterans' ceremony as well as the evening prayer service with Jules' comforting music, provided new memories to take away.

Particularly poignant for me (as I'm sure many others) was your gentle invitation (and explanation) to my grandsons, Chris and Jack, to participate in the funeral rituals at the Church and the gravesite. I believe that this experience will enhance the boys' memory of their great-grandfather!  It sure tugged at my heart.

I can't think of anything we would have wanted to be done differently to honour and celebrate my Dad's life.  At the risk of forgetting someone I have not included the names of all those who made this a precious day for us.  So thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts.   Families First is truly a family of individuals who care for families like ours.

Sincerely,

Marilyn, Darlene, Wayne, Bonnie & Michael

We could not have pictured it any other way from the planning to the execution - both were exceptional.

Thank you for your patience and your vivacious personality. It brought our family many smiles and we are truly thankful to have had you as our funeral director.

Sincerely, Phila, Phen and Bunna

Dear Brian

I can't "Thank you" enough for your guidance at the passing of Ken. The picture that ws in the newspaper and on the card brought special memories to a lot of people, especially his smile and his love for his dogs.

The kind assistance of Wendy and Jerry Marcotte were also greatly appreciated. I have had occasion to visit the Lauzon location in the last while and have been warmly greeted and "hugged" by Marco Sperdutti. He has made a point of asking me if I'm doing alright. What a comforting feeling!

Thank you again for your help and the follow up by Kim. She was great.

Sincerely Carolyn (Boychuk)

The staff on duty were very welcoming and made us very comfortable.  We enjoyed the coffee and cookies too.  We were able to develop our "next steps" to be able to serve our faith communities in time of loss.

Again our thanks, John,

Sincerely, Marilyn Morrison

Dear Kirsten,

On behalf of the Trudel family, I would like to thank you and your staff for providing such comforting and professional care for my mom and family.  From our first meeting, to the delivery of service, we could not have asked for a smoother transition.  Respect was shown from the time my mom was picked up at Aspen Lake to the burial at the cemetery.

Thanks to you and your staff for taking care of the many details, pictures, displays, etc.  and making the room such a welcoming one for family and visitors.

Thank you for the gift of Jules' music which provided a very soothing touch to the celebration.

The lunch which was deliciously prepared by Capri and served in your toom was appreciated by all.  It gave everyone time to visit and enjoy each other's company and for the family to show our appreciation to all who were there.

Sincerely, Theresa Dorion and the Trudel family.

Mr. Parent,

On April 22, 2012 my mother Helena Gammon died at Huron Lodge Home for Seniors.  We had visitation for her on Thursday, April 26th at your Lauzon Rd.  location and her funeral on Friday, April 27th at Good Shepherd Parish.

We had arranged, 10 years ago at the direction of Huron Lodge, my mom's funeral arrangements through Families First.  The process 10 years ago was something we had not done before and Debra Latremouille made it a lot less daunting for us.

We met Marco Sperdutti on Monday, April 23rd to update mom's Windsor Star obituaty and to make all other final arrangements.  We had previously scheduled a meeting for Wednesday April 25th with Jerry Marcotte but with mom's death on the 22nd that meeting never took place.  Jerry, did however stop in, on his day off, during our meeting with Marco to extend his condolences and to ask if we needed anything.  When Marco heard the story about mom changing the date on her birth certificate it  was his suggestion to use the word "unverifiable" in the newspaper obituary.  Everybody who read that got a chuckle about it and when we explained why it was used they had a really good laugh.

Every step of the process of arranging mom's funeral was addressed with professionalism and compassion by your staff.  They were incredibly helpful, thorough, accommodating and kind.  The room that was set up for us to receive guests on Thursday was a wonderful representation of who my mom was.  Her mementos were displayed with care.  Thoughtful gestures from your staff were common like giving mom's four year old twin great granddaughters a teddy bear each, for comfort and displaying two Irish flags.

We just wanted to express our gratitude to you and your staff for making what was a difficult process a lot less overwhelming for us and also for taking care of details that we had never considered before like having an arrangement with a local restaurant so we could eat between showings on visitation day.  Your graphics department did a fantastic job for us with the guest book, the memory book and the photos in the casket and on the wall by the guest book.

We offer a special thank you to Jerry Marcotte who really kept our Family First on Thursday and Friday.

Sincerely,

Ken and Jeanette Gammon (on behalf of the Gammon Family)

Hi Brian,

On behalf of Sherry, Christopher and I, I wanted to thank you and Marylynn and your entire team at Families First for being so generous to bring Dr. Wolfelt back again.  It was a wonderful presentation, as usual.  The first time I saw him was shortly after Chris  died.  This time, I was there for another reason, to know how to better support Sherry, Christopher and Tiffany with the loss of Renato.  I found Dr. Wolfelt's words of wisdom very helpful and reassuring that some of the things I'm doing and  saying are on the right track.

Brian, I find your team to be so professional and informed.  While walking with Sherry on the journey to bring Renato to his final resting place, I was pleased and thankful with how my sister and niece and nephew were treated and most certainly how Renato's life was honoured.   Specifically, Marco's professionalism was comforting and reassuring.  He showed genuine eagerness to make Renato's final journey with us truly memorable and a true honour to the life he lived.

I know I've walked this walk with you too many times in the past several years with police funerals, memorials and personal losses.  I feel blessed to know you and Marylynn and thank-you for kindness and friendship.    Thank-you for all that you do.

No truer name could have been chosen for the work you do for you truly put Families First.

Take Care and God Bless you all,

Lisa Gallant

To whom it may concern,

I justt wanted to take a quick moment to express my deepest thanks to the staff of Families First on Dougal Ave.

Peter White

To Our Family at Families First,

this is a note so long overdue, from myself, and my two daughters.  We want

to thank you for your loving and generous support ov er the last nine

months.  First and most important we want to thank John, Jen and Denis for

your innermost love and compassion for a tragedy one will never forget.

From the moment we walked through Families First's doors it was instant

that "family" was clearly the most important.  You were all so patient and

kind to help us in any way possible, for decisions one never expected to

make.

So 2012 is here, a new year for new decisions and a whole new life lies

ahead  in many ways.  may you continue to serve the many families in the

loving, generous, faithful way you helped us and continue to help us each

and every day.

Dear Sherri

We want to thank you once again for your help in planning the celebration

of Bob's life.  From our first meeting through the visitation, the

celebration, and the follow-up business, you were gentle, gracious and

professional.  Your smile & compassion helped ease our preparations.  Most

importantly, we know Bob would have loved you, too.  He would have been

joking & kibbitzing with you from the get go.

You're really good at what you do, and we consider ourselves fortunate to

have had you to guide us through the process.  And you were absolutely

right that we should trust you!

Sincerely,

Dear Mr & Mrs Parent

On behalf of the O'Neill families I just had to send you this little note

to thank you and your very capable staff for the way in which you handled

my brother Bill's funeral this past week.

From our first appointment with Mr. Bill Robert to subsequent visits with

Sherri Tovell-Regnier and Danielle Marcoux everything was handled with

"diginity" (as they say in the funeral business).

Sherri went the "extra mile" to soften the most unpleasant moments

necessary in preparing this sort of thing. The extra touch of the

"Publishers Clearing House" Winners framing was classic and brought us a

laugh at a very difficult time.  I'm sure that somewhere my brother was

smiling about that.

The military tribute, the piper, the video of his life, and the photo essay

in the beautifully prepared booklet were all so professionally presented

that you made a very sad time in our lives into a memorable experience.

Once again, the O'Neills - Tim, Jan, Peggy, Kathleen, Chris and Beth, send

their thanks for taking good care of their only "Uncle Bill" who was so

dear to us all.

Sincerely, James D. O'Neill & Linda M. Patch

IN ADDITION:  This family was impressed with the way Marcel handled

the delivery.

We wish we could remember everyone’s name who helped us but two names we will never forget are Debra Latremouille & Kris Koutoula. They are just meant to be doing what they do because of their sincerity, compassion & integrity. Now we understand why your name is “Families First” We congratulate the person who hired these special people and thank them from the bottom of our hearts. Please excuse our memories but we also extend our thanks to everyone who had a hand in preparing for & carrying out our Michael’s visitation, funeral & cremation.

Thank you for the professional way you handled my husband's funeral. Everything was appreciated at this sad and difficult time in my life. The staff was most helpful very courteous and compassionate. Everyone has told me it was one of the nicest funerals they had ever attended. The comments reflect what a great job that was done from beginning to end. My family and I were more than pleased. Thanks you once again.

Sincerely Deanne Moore and Family

Words cannot adequately express our family’s heartfelt gratitude to all of you for providing the venue and ambiance for our final farewells to our dad. Many have expressed what a beautiful, uplifting and happy funeral service. Dad would have loved it! It celebrated a life well lived and surrounded by those that he cared for. Our deepest thanks for all of your guidance, beautiful artwork, co ordination of this memorable service and your touching support.

Dear Brian

My Husband and I want to thank you, your wife and you staff for everything you did to make a very difficult time a bit easier and a lot less stressful. We both appreciate the professionalism, the remarkable efficiency and the compassion of the Families First staff. At the time, we did not realize how much all your practical work in making notifications would be a help to us in the weeks afterwards. Finally, we would like to that you pass a special thanks to John who oversaw the funeral and managed to smooth over any difficult or awkward moments. We are sending chocolates as a gift to the staff alone with our deep appreciation.

Dear Jessica

I believe you were my angel to help guide me through the last week with my dad. I can't thank you enough for making the week a most beautiful experience. Everything was perfect and so like my Dad. From the bottom of my heart I know he would have been happy to sit and watch the people and his family surround him to be off to heaven where he can watch down on us. Please drink a glass of wine that my Dad and I made together. I won't forget what you have done for me, ever!

With Love Annette Mann

Daughter of Paul Geier

Dear Brian,

On behalf of my sisters, our family and friends, I would like to extend our sincerest appreciation and thanks for the services provided by Families First with regard to the recent passing of our mother, Nina Pohlman.  The attention and consideration contributed by each and every member of Families First team who assisted us was outstanding, and so very helpful throughout this difficult period. However, we particularly would like to thank Randi Gallant for her exceptional generosity of spirit and concern for our circumstances. She was stellar. We will always be grateful to Families First for the assistance and guidance that helped us navigate through the loss of out dear mother.

Dear Sir:

On behalf of myself and my family, I wish to extend my sincere thanks for the excellent care that you have provided regarding the funeral arrangements for my husband, Bill.

Our funeral director, Marco Sperduti, showed patient and thoughtful consideration throughout the entire process.  With his expert assistance, we were able to have a service that was personalized to honour Bill as the man, husband, father and grandfather that he was.  We wish also to acknowledge other staff members Marcel Hinse and Bill Robert.  Their professionalism in dealing with highly charged emotional situations at such a difficult time is greatly appreciated.  As we have experienced before with the loss of my father, Stanley Bashucki, Families First goes well beyond the funeral service itself to accommodate its clients in their individual needs as they grieve, each in their own way and time.  To be able to administer comfort to those experiencing the loss of a loved one is truly a remarkable talent and Families First exhibits this talent in its most calm and dignified manner. Again, please accept my deepest gratitude for your kindness and concern during this time.

 Sincerely, Michele Buttery
