It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a loving husband, dad, and Nonno on February 6, 2017 at Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus surrounded by the ones who loved him at the age of 88. Beloved husband of 66 years to the late Giuseppina Carlini (nee Diana) (2015). Loving and devoted Father to Sara and husband Amedeo Falconio, Joe and wife Jeri Anne Carlini, Nadia and husband Thomas Bezaire, and predeceased by children Maddalena (Lana) Loreto (2005), and Sonya Dumouchelle (2006). Cherished Nonno to 13 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. Dear brother in law to the late Antonio Diana (2014) and surviving wife Italia, and Leonardo Diana and wife Renata. Dear brother to Anna Carlini (Italy), and predeceased by brothers Paolo (Windsor), Valentino (Italy), Domenico (Toronto), , Antonio (Italy), Nicola (Pennsylvania), Luigi (Italy) and sisters Maria (Italy), and Memmella (Italy). Survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families. A heart felt thank you to CCAC, Para Med, and the doctors and nurses for their exceptional and compassionate care provided to Matteo on his journey to heaven to be with his loving wife again who he missed so much. Matteo was very proud of his family and especially his grandchildren. He was a hard working family man who always put his family first. At the age of 21 he left Italy to make a new home in Canada with his wife, oldest daughter and his In-laws. He was able to help sponsor many family members wanting to come to Canada. He opened up his home to family who needed his help to start a new life. Matteo was very giving and kind and loved to tell stories of the past. He was a proud member of the Caboto Club. He retired from Dominion Forge in his mid-fifties and spent his days gardening, travelling and spending time with his growing family with his wife Giuseppina always by his side. He will be greatly missed.
