Leo Ducharme Sr.

May 14 1929 - May 08 2017

Born May 14, 1929 in Zurich, Ontario
Death May 8, 2017 in Windsor, Ontario
Plain and simple, Leo was a great guy. What more do you want in this life. Always made friends no matter what. If you had the pleasure to be his brother, his sister, his son, his daughter, his wife, his dear friend, his priest, his doctor, his nurse, his neighbour, or even just met him once, you knew he was a great guy and no doubt he made you laugh and or smile. To walk away and say to yourself, what a nice man, says it all as a person.
He got to go back and spend his last remaining days just off the same street he and Reta raised their 14 children. Talk about the circle of life. He loved going for a stroll through the old neighbourhood reminiscing. We will go to bed with sad hearts thinking of your famous family quote of, "Never mind go to bed" after getting us all riled up when we were kids and Mom would be so mad because she had to put us all to bed.  I am sure you realized what you truly were saying in those words. For us to go to bed, forget our troubles of the day sleep in peace, and to be ready for the next day! The past is the past. Look forward, because that is where we are going.
Loving husband of the late Reta Ducharme (nee Jarvis) married, September 16, 1950 until her passing on June 2, 1988. Cherished father of Theresa Wunder  (late Martin), Debra Michaluk  (Greg), Denise Johnson (Wayne), John Ducharme (Colleen), Frances Ducharme, Brian Ducharme, Shirley Crowley (Robert), Dennis Ducharme (Carrie), Kimberley Ducharme  (Mark), Beverley Joffe  (Andrew), Michelle Chenier (Marcel), Gigi, Leo Ducharme Jr. (Lisa), and Robert Ducharme.  Devoted Grandad of 22, and treasured Great-Grandad of 7, and another one on the way.
Loving husband of the late Claire Lariviere-Ducharme (Potvin) married, May 16, 1998 until her passing on October 20, 2011.  Cherished Stepfather of Gary Lariviere (Janine), Denise Barlow (Derek), and Randy Lariviere (Cynthia). Special Grandfather of 9, special Great-Grandfather of 9.
Dearest and loving friend of Joanne Anderson and her family for many years. Special thanks for their care and love during this most difficult time, we can't thank you enough.
Son of the late Dennis and Theresa Ducharme. Beloved brother of Bernadine Goodman (late Jack), Shirley Gurzo (Steve), the late Dennis Ducharme, the late Donald Ducharme (Marge), Agnes Lavin (Jerry), Irvin Ducharme (Juliette), and David Ducharme (Linda). Dear Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Leo was a member of the Windsor Sportsman Club, R.C.L. Branch 594, and the Knights of Columbus Council #5642 River Canard. He enjoyed driving for the Canadian Cancer Society, for over 10 years. Leo was also a devoted usher at St. Joseph's River Canard. He enjoyed watching sports, playing golf, playing billiards, cards, dancing, and above all having fun with friends and family.
Leo’s sense of humour and practical jokes were second to none.

"Well anyways, ‘til we meet again"
