Felicia Rico

Felicia Rico

Jan 02 1955 - May 15 2017

Passed away peacefully at home, in her loving husband’s arms, on May 15, 2017 after a short but courageous and valiant battle with cancer.  Loving, loyal and dedicated best friend, companion and wife of 40 years to Steve Marchand.  Predeceased by her beloved parents Antonio and Maria Rico.  Sister-in-law of Russ Marchand (Mary) and Chris Marchand (Diana).  Loving aunt of Adrien Marchand, Robert Marchand, Tammy Marchand, Teresa and Joe Parent and Mark and Shelley Austrin.  Dearest niece of Donato Rico (Maria), Addolorata Notte (Mario), Mario Rico (Giovanna) and Cecilia Taddeo.  Dearest cousin of Luigia Casale, Annette Augurusa (Frank), Tina Persi (Adriano), Vincenzo Notte, and Antonio Rico (Maria) and numerous cousins in Italy and second cousins in Canada and Italy.  Best friends of Nijole Tinits (Peter), Bev Meyer (Bob) and dearest Godmother of Andrew Tinits.  Without the immense love, help and support of Nijole and Bev it would have been a much harder journey. Will be sadly missed by good friends Nancy Sagmeister and Helga and Kim Gene. Thank you to the amazing and tireless care of family physician Dr. Valerie Hill, Hospice physician Dr. Stephen Rukavina and staff, RN Jim Renaud at Para Med North Service Road, the PSWs at St. Elizabeth and the Leamington Veterinary Clinic and staff for going above and beyond.  An enormous amount of thanks goes to our amazing neighbours for their kindness, generosity and ongoing support.  Felicia had the fondest memories working with the amazing staff and clients of Windsor Regional Hospital for 33 years as a social worker.  She felt blessed having loved and having been loved by so many wonderful people in her life.  She loved nature, animals and travel, especially our many trips to Maui where we had numerous up close experiences with humpback whales which she loved and wanted to protect.  Felicia was in awe of the spirit and people of Maui with their kindness, love and giving sense of community especially Hali, April and Joe.  In lieu of flowers, if you so wish an act of kindness or donations to The Farley Foundation, The St. Clair College Veterinary Technician Program (for colony animals enrichment and care), The Pacific Whale Foundation or a mental health organization of your choice (her clients were the most courageous people Felicia had ever met).
