SERVICE EXCELLENCE when you need it most.
Gwyn Davies passed away peacefully on December 20, 2017 with his family by his side. Gwyn was born on May 10, 1940 on Pelee Island, Ontario to Muriel Dean and Cyril Davies. He lived on Pelee Island until his high school years, when he made the decision to attend Assumption Collegiate as a boarding student. After high school, Gwyn moved to Toronto to attend Ryerson Polytechnical Institute where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering then decided to pursue a degree in Accounting.
While working in Toronto as a Chartered Accountant, Gwyn met his wife Susan. They married on November 20, 1970. The pair moved to Mississauga and had two daughters, Lianne and Adrienne. Soon after, an employment opportunity with Deloitte Touche took Gwyn and his family to LaSalle. After a number of years, he decided to enter the private industry, as a CFO for Huron Steel and Phoenix Accutech. In the years before retirement, Gwyn completed his career working for the Canada Revenue Agency.
In his younger years, Gwyn was an active member and Commander of the Windsor Power and Sail Squadron. Gwyn truly enjoyed traveling, vacationing in the south and being around the water. Gwyn and his family spent many years boating to Pelee Island and other vacation destinations on Lake Erie. Later, the family enjoyed summering on Lake Huron in Bayfield, Ontario with family and friends.
In his free time, Gwyn enjoyed being with friends and neighbors, and watching sporting events with his sons-in-law over a beer or two. He also loved spending time with his grandsons, whether it was talking sports stats, tossing the ball around or playing cards. He could always be found helping friends building and finishing projects. For those closest to Gwyn, he is best known for his quick witted one-liners, meticulous garage and ability to attract every stray animal in the neighbourhood. Gwyn is probably most remembered for his quiet and patient demeanour. He was a kind, soft-spoken man that was generous with his time and talents. He always welcomed the opportunity to help others.
Gwyn is survived by his wife Susan (nee Buchanan), daughters Lianne (Paul Genzman) and Adrienne (Scott Young) and grandsons, Henry, Jack, Finn, Leif, Andrew and Nathan. He is also survived by his stepmother Ruth Davies, and brothers, Patrick, Burns and Rhys. He is predeceased by his mother (Muriel Dean), father (Cyril Davies) and brother (Gareth Davies).
